 Drug Discovery Chemistry:

The discovery of candidate drug targets is challenging, requiring the rapid development of techniques to identify the difference genomic profiling in disease and normal conditions, which will facilitate the understanding of the disease mechanism and the development of potential drugs for disease treatment. Medicinal chemistry has increasingly employed microarrays to identify both key target genes and gene networks that can regulate the effectiveness of drugs. As compared with all the other phases in drug discovery, this stage is complex by the fact that the identified drug target must mollify a variety of standards to permit development to the next step. For example, the target must be selectively present in the pathogen, i.e. medicinal chemistry along with coding genes of drug design target that are preserved across different pathogens and have no human homologs and therefore they represent striking target candidates for new broad-spectrum drugs.
